On Sunday, April 22, CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute
) staff will be wearing their best Hawaiian outfits and bowling in support of autism awareness. CPI will be participating in Good Friend Inc.’s fourth-annual Hoa Aloha Autism Awareness Bowling Event
at New Berlin Bowl in New Berlin, WI. This is the third consecutive year that CPI has participated in the event. Two years ago CPI won the best-dressed award!
Good Friend, Inc. is a nonprofit organization started by Chelsea Budde and Denise Schamens, both of whom have children on the spectrum. As their kids entered school, Chelsea and Denise saw their kids struggle to make friends. They began Good Friend, Inc. to educate kids about autism and how to be friends with people on the spectrum. They have produced a DVD
for elementary and middle-school students that educates kids on the behaviors and needs of those with autism. They also do peer sensitivity workshops
to educate people in the community. All proceeds from their annual bowling event go to support their work.
Increase autism awareness by enhancing your interactions with individuals with autism spectrum disorders.
