CPI President Judith Schubert Publishes Opinion Letter in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

By Crisis Prevention Institute | Posted on 05.13.2011 | 0 comments
Judith Schubert, CPI president, published an opinion letter in the May 13, 2011 issue of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The letter is a response to an article published in the May 8 issue of the Journal Sentinel, titled “Elder Abuses Go Unpunished,” about seniors who’ve been neglected in care facilities.

In her letter, Judith emphasizes the importance of staff training, which is not currently mandated in most licensing requirements.

“Staff who work with these vulnerable people need to be skilled in balancing responsibilities for care with responsibilities for safety,” Judith writes.

“We need to support the staff who support our loved ones, whether children or vulnerable adults—and hold them accountable.”
