She sits on numerous committees and panels that advocate the development of standards for dementia care. She has authored a variety of dementia care articles, and she lectures nationally on dementia management and aging.

The month of October has been like a roller-coaster ride of energy and emotion. I have been on the road teaching, learning, and interacting—spreading the word about the importance of and the need for quality dementia care delivered by a skilled interdisciplinary team. Wow. I had a great weekend September 24 and 25. We held our two-day Dementia Therapy Intermediate course in the Boston area. I have to admit, this is my favorite course to teach, and I'm excited that our 2011 teaching plan has my primary teaching focus on this program. Read more »

This collection is designed for any staff or family member when engaging someone in gardening. The activities are categorized by Seasons and then by months within the seasons. Each gardening activity includes a complete description, a list of needed supplies, and directions on how to adapt the activity for each stage of dementia. It includes recommendations for gardening tools, equipment, and vendors who are helpful when working with persons with disabilities. And the pictures and illustrations are wonderful! Read more »
