Massachusetts SB 1313 to Require Implementation of Violence Prevention Plan
Massachusetts SB 1313 was referred to the Senate Ways and Means Committee on 4/11/2016. The bill relates to health care employers. Key points include: 
  • The bill requires each employer operating a health care facility to annually perform a risk assessment.
  • Based on the findings of the risk assessment, the health care employer must develop and implement a program to minimize the danger of workplace violence to employees.
  • The program must include appropriate employee training and a system for the ongoing reporting and monitoring of incidents and situations involving violence or the risk of violence.
  • Each health care employer must develop a written violence prevention plan.
The commissioner of labor will adopt rules and regulations to implement the act.
