Alzheimer’s Disease: A New Perspective

Alzheimer’s Disease: A New Perspective
Love, Loss, and Laughter, an exhibition of photos of people living with dementia, is touring Australia through November 2013.

The collection, photographed by sociologist Cathy Greenblat of Rutgers University, is intended to highlight the humanity of people with dementia—to show that, regardless of a person’s diagnosis, he has the same emotional needs—particularly for social engagement and connection—as the rest of us. Greenblat’s photos are intended to help us focus on the person—not the disease.

Visit the exhibition’s website and check out samples of the photos.

Watch the video below to learn how a new perspective can help caregivers focus on helping people with dementia coexist with the disease.
