CPI has been approved as a training provider in Vermont. The state recently passed Rule 4500, limiting the use of restraint and seclusion in schools and prohibiting any restraint that restricts breathing. Only trained staff may use restraint and seclusion if necessary.
As part of Rule 4500, the Vermont education commissioner is required to publish a list of recommended restraint training programs, from which schools will be required to choose in order to fulfill training requirements.
Rule 4500 goes into effect on August 15, 2011. Schools will have until September 30 to meet the new requirements.
