Music helps Lindsey Striplin with speech, language, words, actions, and sounds, says her mom, Kimberly Striplin.
Kimberly volunteers to teach music to students with special needs at the Margaret K. Lewis School in Panama City, FL. As part of teacher Leanne Tally’s vocational class, Kimberly conducts Music class about once a week for students ages 18–22. Students choose their own instruments and their own style of contributing to the collaborative spirit of making music, learning math and social skills along the way, and having fun.
MKL was recently awarded a $500 grant to buy instruments, and plans to purchase electronic equipment to enable students with motor impairments to make music too. Learn more in “Music Drives Special Needs Students to Success.”
