Dementia Going Undiagnosed in the UK
An estimated 350,000 people with dementia in the UK don’t even know they have it.
 
With many health and care professionals still unaware of the symptoms, undiagnosed dementia can wreak even greater devastation on the persons involved, their families, and friends. It’s a race between meeting the challenge of providing support, training, and resources, and the projected rise of 1 million people living with dementia by 2021.
 
By 2015, the National Health Service (NHS England) has a goal: Two-thirds of people with dementia will be diagnosed and given access to treatment. Their aims include improving research and family support.
