School Bullying Resources and References

Developing an understanding of bullying and the facts and myths that surround it is critical to dealing effectively with bullying behaviors. Creating an emotionally and physically safe environment requires a coordinated effort among staff, family, the organization, and the community.

Our Bullying Behaviors: Applying CPI’s Crisis Development ModelSM refresher option [Instructors only] helps Certified Instructors of the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® program facilitate discussions and begin to develop solutions.

Additionally, to assist you in dealing with the serious problems associated with bullying, we refer you to a number of articles, including "Bullying in Schools: A Public Health Issue" and "Cyber-Bullying: Creating a Culture of Respect in a Cyber World," which discuss how to spot signs of bullying, and present techniques for promoting care and safety in both physical and virtual environments.

The following articles and resources contain a wealth of information dedicated to helping prevent and control school and youth bullying. Please note that while CPI does not endorse the external resources, we believe that they may be helpful to you in your efforts to address this complex issue.
