Service Dogs Aid Autistic Children
An organization in Penn Hills, PA provides trained dogs to assist families of children with autism. K9s for Kids has placed dogs for 10 families over the past three years, and these pairings have resulted in improvements in the autistic children’s behaviors. In one case, an autistic child began to speak, and in another, a child lost the compulsion to spin as much as he spun before. Read: “Service Dogs Aid Autistic Children.”

Hospital Violence Increases Need for Training
A recent article in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution examines the rise of violence and the need for prevention training in health-care settings.
Health-care workers are three times more likely to be injured by acts of violence than employees in other industries, according to the “State of Sector/Healthcare and Social Assistance” report referenced in the article.
