Autistic Students Gain Skills Working at School Coffee Shop
Students in a special class for children with autism and other learning disabilities at Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Edison, NJ have the task of running a school coffee shop each Friday morning, a responsibility that assists them with human interaction and life skills.

Workers’ Memorial Day Promotes Safe Workplaces
Workers’ Memorial Day, which recognizes workers who have died or been injured at work, was April 28. This day also marked the fortieth anniversary of both the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (of the US Department of Health and Human Services) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (of the US Department of Labor). Mentally Ill Fill Houston Jail
The Harris County Jail in Houston, TX houses about 10,000 inmates, 2,400 of whom are taking psychotropic medications to treat mental illness. Because of the state’s mental health budget cuts, the jail serves as the largest mental institution in the state, according to an article in The New York Times.
