Ohio Requires Dating-Violence Training in All Schools
All students in Ohio schools are now required to receive age-appropriate information about dating-violence prevention in health class, according to an article in the Sun Star Courier. Students will learn about topics including dating-violence warning signs and healthy relationship characteristics. Some school staff members are trained in dating-violence education as well. Educators are trying to determine whether aggressive play among boys should be considered normal or harmful, according to a recent article on the MSNBC website. Some educators believe if aggressive play is stifled, the behavior will manifest itself in other ways, while others believe it can lead to increased violent behavior in children as they get older. Nevada Fights Cyberbullying in Schools
Nevada schools and police are continuing their fight against cyberbullying after a law was passed making it a misdemeanor or gross misdemeanor for student “to cause bodily harm or death to pupil or school employee [sic] by means of oral, written, or electronic communication,” according to an article in the Las Vegas Sun.
