A study released by the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) reveals that most senior home care clients receive informal care from a spouse or child, and one in six of those who provide this care experience distress. Massachusetts Adopts Policy on Use of Restraint and Seclusion
Massachusetts adopted Policy #10-02, which establishes procedures and requirement for use of restraint and seclusion in the state’s department of mental health facilities and treatment programs. California Adopts Bill on Hospital Security
California passed Assembly Bill 1083, which became effective July 1, 2010. The bill requires hospitals to conduct security and safety assessments annually at minimum. It also requires hospitals to update security plans every year. Read: California Adopts Bill on Hospital Security.

The US Department of Education launched a website, LearningPort.com, which offers free educational and professional development resources to parents and teachers, searchable by topic and by organization. The site is a compilation of links to learning modules, tool kits, reports, webinars, and other information supplied by different school districts, professional groups and other organizations, who are invited to submit resources directly online.
