Q. What is a Dementia Care Specialists Distinguished Provider recognition?
A. Recognition of facilities that demonstrate a commitment to CPI’s Dementia Capable Care training and principles, which is the foundation for high-quality dementia care.
Q. What is Dementia Capable Care?
A. Care provided by care partners (therapists, nurses, aides, activity professionals, leadership, and others) who have the passion, heart, and skill to enhance the function, safety, and quality of life of those with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD).
Q. What are the benefits of this recognition?
A.
- Acknowledgement of commitment to and successful achievement of CPI’s Dementia Capable Care training.
- Linked into the Dementia Care Specialists (DCS) community for sharing advice, solutions, and success stories.
- The level of training achieved within the distinguished provider recognition helps to facilitate positive outcomes such as:
- Promote the highest possible level of function for those at all stages of ADRD.
- Maximize overall health, emotional well being, and safety for those at all stages of ADRD.
- Attract and maintain quality staff.
- Empower/support staff to minimize burnout and staff turnover.
- Enhance referrals and census.
Q. What does the Dementia Care Specialists Distinguished Provider receive?
A. With successful achievement of Dementia Care Specialists Distinguished Provider recognition, a facility and/or the specific environment (such as a Dementia Special Care Unit) within the facility receives:
- A plaque identifying this special status awarded for a two-year period.
- A seal (provided electronically) that can be utilized on collateral pieces and the facility website.
- A pin for each team member trained in the Dementia Capable Care: Foundation course.
- Public recognition as a Dementia Care Specialists Distinguished Provider; providers will be (a) listed on CPI’s website and (b) named in periodic press releases.
- An invitation to attend our conference at a discounted registration rate for up to five staff. In addition, one of the five attendees may attend our annual conference at no cost if that individual is an accepted presenter.
- Access to premium content on our web community to assist in networking, upskilling, and best practice sharing.
