Programme Overview

 

Build a Respectful Workplace Culture
All groups attend the same session on the first day, but the Instructor Certification candidates receive two additional days of training to develop their skills and learn to tailor the content for conducting in-house programmes of their own.

 

One-Day Foundation Seminar

 

Build a foundation for respectful interactions.
On the first day of the programme, the Foundation Course focuses on early intervention. Participants acquire the skills to respond effectively to anxious, irrational, angry, hostile, or potentially dangerous behaviour and minimise the negative impact of challenging encounters. As part of the seminar, an issue-based Topic Module is used to connect the core concepts of the Foundation Course to the unique needs of your employees and your organisation.

 

Foundation Course

The Prepare Training® programme is built on values that prioritise respectful interactions, a service-oriented attitude, and a safe environment for employees and customers. That value base is introduced as a framework for decision making in the Foundation Course. Improved communication and the de-escalation of disruptive situations are the intended outcomes. These outcomes are best reached when units are linked to one another and to organisational policies and procedures. Each of the seven units introduces skills and strategies to incorporate into problem solving and decision making when faced with disruptive—or potentially disruptive—situations.

The Foundation Course can be customised to increase relevance for different employee groups. During the course, you will:

  • Learn how crisis situations evolve and develop.
  • Examine the issues that impact CPI Respect, Service, and Safety at Work®.
  • Explore the non-verbal and verbal elements of communication that can impact a crisis situation.
  • Practise de-escalation strategies.
  • Learn how to set limits with individuals who are verbally aggressive and non-compliant.
  • Understand the reciprocal relationship between one's own behaviour and the behaviour of others.
  • Develop coping mechanisms that can help maintain professionalism during confrontations.
  • Explore ways to learn from crisis situations and improve future interventions.

Topic Modules
Topic Modules allow in-depth customisation to address the unique needs of employees and evolving issues of the organisation. These two-hour information-packed modules build on the Foundation Course principles and highlight specific skills and strategies when addressing a variety of issues.

 

Three-Day Instructor Certification Programme

 

Become certified to teach additional staff at your organisation.
The most cost-effective way to implement the Prepare Training® programme throughout your organisation is to have an Instructor on staff. During the Instructor Certification Programme, you'll learn to master the intervention techniques so you are able to tailor the programme for in-house training. You'll learn effective techniques for facilitating a group and begin to develop your own presentation style. You will also be assessed for your understanding of programme content. Upon completion, you will become certified to teach the Foundation Course and all Topic Modules within your organisation. During the programme, you will:

  • Learn to effectively convey the programme's philosophy and content to all employees.
  • Examine a powerful teaching formula to use with adult learners.
  • Develop specific strategies for creating an effective learning environment and important techniques for facilitating lectures, discussions, and exercises.
  • Understand quality standards and benefits for Instructors and organisations that aid in effective implementation of the Prepare Training® programme.
  • Explore the four key training concepts to ensure the programme's greatest impact.
  • Learn how and why the Prepare Training® programme is facilitated as an ongoing process.
  • Learn how to select and incorporate Topic Modules into the process.
  • Develop helpful strategies for preparing to teach Topic Modules.
  • Practise training and tailoring content to the unique needs of your organisation.
