Community Involvement
The Crisis Prevention Institute, Inc. provides consultation and testimony
to legislative and accrediting bodies regarding training in the management
of challenging behaviors. Emerging issues, such as inclusion of special needs students
in mainstream classrooms, community placement of institutionalized
persons, reports of abuses in care homes, and risks relating to the
use of physical restraints, have increased CPI's involvement in research and
prompting dialog and action.
Testimony, Consultation, and Collaboration |
 |
CPI is regularly contacted by consumer advocacy
groups, professional organizations, care providers and other
stakeholders who respect the CPI training philosophy and who are formulating
their own position statements regarding disruptive
and aggressive behavior management, violence prevention, de-escalation techniques,
and the use of physical interventions. When regulatory bodies
begin to formulate legal requirements regarding training in the
use of physical interventions, CPI assists service provides
in structuring approaches to meet evolving requirements, and
provides expert testimony in the development of many such requirements.
It is difficult to list all the instances where CPI has had
the opportunity to be a catalyst for change. Please contact
us for more information.
