Days 1 & 2
Before learning how to conduct Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® programs in their facility, participants go through the first two days of training, including:
- How to identify behaviors that can lead to a crisis.
- Nonverbal
techniques for controlling disruptive behavior.
- Successful verbal
resolution of a crisis situation.
- Why verbal aggression becomes
physical.
- Dealing with staff fear and anxiety.
- Personal
Safety TechniquesSM.
- When and how to restrain safely.
- How
to safely and effectively control and transport an individual.
- How
to develop team intervention strategies.
- Ways to maintain rapport
with the acting-out individual.
- Key steps for debriefing after
a crisis.
Days 3 & 4
On days three and four of the program, participants learn
how to master the intervention techniques they have learned
so they are able to teach them to staff at their organization.
In addition, participants are taught how to effectively
conduct and customize the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention®
program for in-house training. To ensure understanding
and that quality standards are maintained, each Instructor
candidate receives personalized attention from CPI Professional
Staff Instructors and is carefully evaluated. Participants
are assessed for their understanding of program content,
physical techniques, and instructional methods.
