The Association for Positive Behavior Support (APBS)
APBS is an international organization dedicated to improving the support of individuals in order to reduce behavioral challenges, increase independence, and ensure the development of constructive behaviors to meet life goals in the areas of social relationships, employment, academic achievement, functional life-skills, self-determination, health, and safety. The competent and skilled use of Positive Behavior Support (i.e., focusing on strategies that are compassionate, constructive, and educationally oriented) can help individuals make meaningful progress toward these goals.

Autism Internet Modules (AIM)
The AIM project provides parents and professionals with information for helping individuals with ASD achieve their highest potential. More than 35 free online learning modules include information on identification of ASD, how to understand behaviors and characteristics of individuals with ASD, transition of individuals with ASD to adulthood and employment, and numerous evidence-based practices and interventions. All modules are free and written by experts from around the country.

Autism Society of America
Autism Society of America (ASA) is a leading voice and resource of the autism community in education, advocacy, services, research, and support. ASA, a chapter- and member-based organization, is committed to meaningful participation and self-determination in all aspects of life for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. The ASA website contains useful information in English and Spanish.

Autism Society of Canada
Autism Society Canada (ASC) is a national incorporated non-profit charitable organization. It was founded in 1976 by a group of parents committed to advocacy, public education, information and referral, and support for its regional societies. The ASC website contains useful information in English and French.

Autism Spectrum Disorders From A to Z
This site features a collection of well-organized and easy-to-follow resource documents on a variety of topics written from parent and professional perspectives by sisters Barbara Doyle and Emily Iland. Great Spanish-language autism resources can be found here as well.

The Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL)
CSEFEL is located at Vanderbilt University under the direction of Dr. Mary Louise Hemmeter. Its focus is to improve the social and emotional outcomes for young children from birth to age five. CSEFEL develops evidence-based training and technical assistance materials to promote children’s development.

Cooperative Educational Service Agency 7
This site features six articles by autism consultant Susan Stokes on autism interventions and strategies for success. Topics include assistive technology, learning styles, effective programming for three- to five-year olds, structured teaching, and increasing expressive communication skills. There’s also some good information on seclusion and restraint, and information for staff on several topics including goal writing, visual strategies, diagnostic tools, workshops and conferences, and transition.

Manitoba Education
The province of Manitoba’s education site offers a wealth of programming ideas in its downloadable PDF titled “Supporting Inclusive Schools: A Handbook for Developing and Implementing Programming for Students With Autism Spectrum Disorder.” You’ll also find a nice ASD PowerPoint on the main site, and some vignettes that serve as good case-study examples.

National Autism Center
The National Autism Center (NAC) is a nonprofit organization that serves children and adolescents with ASD by providing families, practitioners, and communities with comprehensive resources. In December of 2012 it released a manual for parents. The NAC's associate organization, May Institute, provides educational, rehabilitative, and behavioral health care services to individuals with ASD and other developmental disabilities, as well as individuals with brain injury, mental illness, and behavioral health needs.

National Autistic Society
The National Autistic Society (NAS) of the United Kingdom champions the rights and interests of all people with autism and aims to provide individuals with autism and their families with help, support, and services that they can access, trust, and rely upon, and that can make a positive difference to their lives.

The National Professional Development Center on Autism Spectrum Disorders
This multi-university center provides resources and professional development for professionals serving youth with ASD. Online learning options include foundational information on ASD that addresses evidence-based practices for early diagnosis, as well as for intervention and education.

This site includes articles, a bookstore, an online community, blogs, topical forums, newsletters, and links to research projects and service providers.

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
The Teaching Assistance Center on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports was established by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs, to provide schools with information and technical assistance to identify, adapt, and sustain effective disciplinary practices.

Positively Autism
This site provides tutorials, free teaching resources, games, book recommendations, and an online newsletter. You can sign up to receive their Daily Autism Freebies, which center on topics such as life skills, social stories, and visual aids, and you can participate in their online education modules.

Technical Assistance Center on Social Emotional Intervention for Young Children (TACSEI)
TACSEI is a program of the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs. TACSEI uses research of best practices to improve social-emotional outcomes for children, with or at risk for delays or disabilities, and creates free products and resources with the information. These are available to download from the TACSEI website.

Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH)
For over 40 years, Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH) has been an innovator in developing and implementing a statewide system for assisting and supporting people with autism spectrum disorders and their families in North Carolina. The TEACCH program has also been a model for services throughout the country and all over the world. The TEACCH website contains useful information in English and Spanish.
