What sets a memory care facility apart from the rest?
There are many things to consider when choosing a community
for your loved one, but probably the most important factor is trust. Can you trust that a place will provide the most attentive, capable, and compassionate care for your loved one? That staff are trained to effectively respond to the distress that people with dementia often feel? That families often feel? Can you trust that staff will get to know your loved one’s history, likes, dislikes, and remaining abilities—and build their care around what your loved one wants, needs, and is still capable of doing?
That trust is exactly what our Distinguished Provider award
communicates. On Tuesday, March 3, we’ll be presenting the award to our newest recipient, Heritage Memory Care at The Colonnade
. Developed to serve the unique memory care needs of the St.-Louis-area community, Heritage demonstrates a commitment to resident and family well-being and individualized care. Each staff member is specially trained in Alzheimer’s and dementia care, and the community’s person-centered programs are custom designed to enable each resident to function at their highest possible level.
Our Distinguished Provider program recognizes select memory care communities like Heritage that demonstrate excellence in resident care and cultivate an environment that helps residents enjoy the greatest level of function, safety, and quality of life.
A member of our senior leadership team, Marvin Mason
, will present the award at a special recognition ceremony on Tuesday, and Sharon Jackson, one of our Dementia Care Consultants
who works with the Heritage team on dementia care programming and activities and Dementia Capable Care
training, will also speak at the event.
Barbara Dunaway, Executive Director at Heritage, says: “We believe people can lead happy, healthy, and productive lives at every stage of dementia through the delivery of abilities-based, person-centered care. We are honored to receive this award that recognizes our commitment to helping our residents live their best lives. The passion that our staff have for providing the most personalized level of memory care possible is what sets our community apart. I’m very proud of our talented and dedicated team.”
With over five million Americans living with Alzheimer’s/dementia—and nearly 15 million projected to develop the disease by the year 2050, we hope that the quality of care provided by Distinguished Providers will serve as a model by which our society must elevate the standard for memory care.
