Vista Shores, a private, luxury assisted living and memory care community built on the site of the legendary Vista Shores country club overlooking Bayou St. John in New Orleans, was recently honored for its ongoing commitment to excellence with CPI’s Distinguished Provider Award.
Vista Shores joins other award-winning memory care facilities operated by David Schonberg, Ashton Manor and Beau Provence. Schonberg & Associates has partnered with Dementia Care Specialists in creating assisted living communities throughout the Gulf Coast region.
According to DCS founder and president Kim Warchol, “David Schonberg is a real visionary. He’s a man that I wish we could clone and have own and operate all the assisted living communities throughout the US, because he really does sincerely care about the people he serves.”

One of the key components of Vista Shores’ exceptional care model is their individualized programs, custom-designed to enrich each resident's life and enable them to function at the highest possible level. Each resident's care at Vista Shores begins with an extensive initial assessment that assists in building a complete picture of his or her unique needs.

The third floor at Vista Shores is reserved exclusively for memory care residents. There is a separate kitchen and dining room on the floor, along with a beautiful veranda that overlooks the bayou. The facility also has a special memory care garden on the grounds.

One of the key values of Schonberg facilities is extensive staff training and an ongoing commitment to providing exceptional care for residents and their families. Ongoing dementia care training is part of the routine for the community’s entire team, from the care partners who make up the activities staff to nurses, food service, housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance staff. Everyone is trained in delivering a higher level of care.
Oh, and don’t forget the beautiful sunsets on Vista Shores’ wrap-around porch!

With as many as 16 million Americans projected to have Alzheimer’s disease by 2050, the quality of care provided by Vista Shores serves as a model by which to elevate the standard of memory care.
