6 Reasons I'm Stoked for the CPI Instructors' Conference

Every week, I am privileged to work with an amazing group of staff.
Every week, I go home feeling reassured that there is still kindness in the world, and that there are still people who genuinely care about others every single day.
Every week, my heart is warmed. It’s an incredible experience to work for a company that’s genuinely excited about their customers. I believe I truly have the best job in the world.
In my 12 years with CPI, I have attended three Instructors’ Conferences.
The first one was the most stressful, if only because I didn’t know what to expect. I knew I would be training the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® program, and that would probably feel pretty normal for me . . . but this was a conference! Somehow there was added stress, because it had to be perfect for our Certified Instructors.
At the end, I was exhausted—but also in awe of our Certified Instructors and how much they cared. They didn’t only care about their organizations and the populations they served, but about the program and what other Certified Instructors were doing too. With all the problem-solving and supporting of one another, the whole experience was incredibly exciting and rejuvenating.
During my second and third conferences, I knew what to expect and how to prepare. So I was also able to pay more attention to how CPI as a company prepares for an Instructors’ Conference. If it’s possible, we get even more excited about seeing our Certified Instructors!
At our all-company meetings when the announcements are made about how many Certified Instructors are coming to our conference, there is genuine enthusiasm and hope that our customers will have an enriching experience. We Global Professional Instructors are eager to see familiar faces, and the office staff look forward to being face-to-face with some of the voices they’ve heard over the phone.
This year is no different. Here’s what I’m looking forward to—and what I hope you’ll get out of it, too:
  1. Seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones.
  2. Hearing about the successes (and challenges!) everyone is having.
  3. Learning new ways to apply the program.
  4. Having the chance to ask the questions you’ve always wanted to ask.
  5. Experiencing all the support and laughter . . . and maybe a few happy tears.
  6. Connecting with everyone who’s in the Instructor Community.

I’m also looking forward to being inspired, being in awe, and having my heart warmed by all the kindness and goodwill.

That feeling—that reassurance of kindness in the world—is multiplied tenfold after attending an Instructors’ Conference. I am convinced that if everyone had that kind of experience during their workweeks, the world would be a happier, more caring place.
So, come to Conference! Tons of CPI staff and hundreds of Certified Instructors can't wait to see you in New Orleans. You’ll find me out and about throughout the week, and teaching the new (and incredible) enhancements to the program. Between all of the positive professional experiences and the hospitality that Louisiana is known for, it should be an exciting, educating, and empowering week!
