One Step Closer on the Walk to End Alzheimer's

Last Saturday, September 6 we had a great time at the 2014 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Waukesha, WI, sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter. We participate in at least one walk every year with this organization, and we specifically wanted to support the Waukesha County walk, as it was co-chaired by the owners of Capri Communities, a locally owned and operated family of assisted living communities with a strong emphasis in memory care.

It was a beautiful day and perfect for the two-mile walk along the Fox River at Frame Park. We saw old friends like PDC Midwest and Silverado Care represented there, as well as a large number of family-and-friend teams who joined together in memory of a loved one with dementia. It was great to chat with like-minded people who care about making a difference for the people in our lives who are affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia.

We had a terrific morning of sunshine, music, and Zumba (!) before the walk began, and loved stopping traffic on Highway 18 in a sea of team T-shirts! Thanks to everyone from CPI who contributed with donations (either financial or in baked-good form for our bake sale) and/or walked with us last week. We almost doubled our team goal of $1,500 in donations for the Alzheimer's Association!
