Legislation introduced recently in New York aims to ensure that school bus drivers and attendants are properly trained in techniques to prevent and discourage bullying, harassment, and discrimination they may encounter in the vehicles.
NY AB823 [PDF] is an Act introduced on January 7, 2015 intended to amend education law and vehicle and traffic law as they relate to training surrounding these issues, and it states that “the commissioner shall develop a uniform and comprehensive training program for school bus drivers transporting students to and from school by school bus in the discouragement, prevention, and detection of harassment, bullying and discrimination.”
