As founder and president of Dementia Care Specialists, Kim is also a member of the consulting team. With more than 28 years of experience as an occupational therapist, she is an expert in dementia care grounded in evidence-based models, including the Allen Cognitive Disabilities Model
Kim has set up many memory care environments and programs, and has educated thousands of therapists and other health care professionals on implementing the Warchol Best-Abilities Care ModelSM
. This philosophy of care is based on her belief that every individual with Alzheimer’s/dementia is unique.
OTR/L, Consultant and Implementation Specialist
Sharon earned her B.S. degree in occupational therapy at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Sharon began her journey using the Allen Cognitive Disabilities Model
in 1999 and completed the Dementia Therapy Master Clinician Program in 2009.
Specializing in geriatrics, she has many years of experience in the long-term care setting, the home health care industry, and as a dementia care consultant.
Sharon is also a CPI Global Professional Instructor, teaching our Dementia Capable Care
courses at open enrollment and on-site programs.
COTA, Consultant and Implementation Specialist
With a degree in occupational therapy assistant technology, Sharon has worked in long-term care/skilled rehab since 1998. Sharon was a two-term president of the Allen Cognitive Network and has served on the board since 2007.
Her professional experience includes working as a program designer to integrate the Allen Cognitive Disabilities Model into nursing to enhance the care of residents with dementia.

Kyle trains therapists, nursing staff, support staff, community owners, administrators, and other professionals in our Dementia Capable Care
With a bachelor's in speech communications and a master's in speech-language pathology, she has over 20 years of experience working in continuing care and assisted living environments.
Her background in developing and implementing clinical educational programs provides a unique learning opportunity for those attending her workshops and training sessions. She’s been American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certified since 1991.

Liz trains and certifies healthcare professionals in our Dementia Capable Care
With a bachelor's in therapeutic studies and a master's in occupational therapy, her background is in geriatrics. She has practiced in a variety of settings including acute, sub-acute, rehab, and inpatient.
Liz first discovered the Cognitive Disabilities Model in 2012 at the Allen Cognitive Network Symposium and was so inspired she immediately joined the board and incorporated the model into her professional practice.
She has presented at AOTA’s National Conference on topics including sexuality, incontinence, and journal clubs. She’s also presented at a variety of other conferences including AOTA’s Skilled Nursing Specialty Conference; the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists National Conference; the Illinois Occupational Therapy Association State Conference; and the Allen Cognitive Symposium.
