British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD)

CPI has been awarded full accreditation by the British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD). This official recognition is the culmination of CPI's efforts to ensure that every facet of the Nonviolent Crisis InterventionSM training programme is fully compliant with the BILD Code of Practice for Trainers in the Use of Physical Interventions, in addition to the DoH/DfES Statutory Guidance on the Use of Restrictive Physical Intervention, as well as the new Care Standards. We are especially proud of this prestigious endorsement of the Nonviolent Crisis InterventionSM programme, as CPI was the first training organisation in the UK to undergo the full process of accreditation by BILD. This accreditation is particularly relevant for Certified Instructors responsible for training staff who care for individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and/or emotional behavioural disturbance. For further information, please contact the CPI EU office at enquiries@crisisprevention.com or 0161 929 9777.

Institute of Conflict Management (ICM)

CPI is accorded Quality Award Centre Status by the Institute of Conflict Management (ICM).

What Does it Mean?
The ICM has played a key role in the development of National Occupational Standards (NOS) for the management of work-related violence. The standards provide employers with insight into the key elements of an effective violence-prevention strategy and recognition of the significant role that training plays. CPI was sent a comprehensive tool kit, which included criteria to be satisfied and guidance on how to acquire the evidence required. After a rigorous process, CPI sent its application with supporting evidence. The application was then forwarded by ICM to an independent external assessment agency for consideration.

Key Principles of the Quality Award
The ICM Quality Award is based on six key principles: Process Focus, Flexibility, Inclusiveness, Support and Development, Self-Assessment, and Integrity and Fair Play.

Office for Health Management (Ireland)

The Nonviolent Crisis InterventionSM training programme is listed on the Office for Health Management's Service Providers Database. The office exists to lead the way in management and organisational development in the Irish health services in order that patients will receive better service, and that health and social gain will be maximised.

Its mission is to add value to management development for the health services and not to duplicate the work of existing agencies. The OHM Service Providers Database aims to provide health service managers and staff with a one-stop shop where they can view the current range of courses and services available. For more information about this database listing, contact CPI (from the United Kingdom: 0800 89 1874 or from the Republic of Ireland: 1800 558 077) or the Office for Health Management directly at 353 1 4754044 or http://www.tohm.ie/.

Ontario MCFCS

In 2002, the Ontario Ministry of Community, Family and Children's Services amended the Child and Family Services Act and the Developmental Services Act regarding the use of physical restraints. Regulation 70, sections 109.1-109.3, outlines the requirements regarding the use of physical restraints and training by providers. Agencies under the jurisdiction of this act were required to provide training in the use of physical restraints before April 1, 2003. CPI was advised that the Nonviolent Crisis InterventionSM training program was approved under the provisions of this act to meet this ministerial training requirement. CPI is an approved provider for the adult client population, as well as for children and adolescents.
