Dementia Care Specialists is pleased to recognize providers that help create a Dementia Capable Society. The rising incidence of Alzheimer’s/dementia has created an urgent need for a change in the way we think and a shift in the way we care. That’s why designing a Dementia Capable Society—a community in which people from all walks of life have the skills to help people with dementia feel valued, secure, and loved—has never been more essential.
The Dementia Capable Society Leader recognition highlights an organization’s or individual’s commitment to principles of person-centered care for people with dementia and those who care for them. Dementia Capable Society leaders come from all areas of long-term care, from architecture and design firms to therapy agencies and home health care organizations.
