Dementia Capable Care Specialist Credential Training is a modified offering of the full Dementia Capable Care program for practitioners wanting additional training and credentialing for their own professional development. Dementia Capable Care is an evidence-based learning experience combining the Claudia Allen Model and the Crisis Development ModelSM to create a person-centered and abilities-focused approach to caring for persons with dementia. Participants will learn how to promote the highest level of function through meaningful daily activities, nonpharmacological approaches, and improved communications.
Credential Training Class Hours:
Live Virtual: 12:30 PM - 5:30 PM (EST)
Please note: The full live virtual session includes two 15-minute breaks. Please check in at least 15 minutes before the program begins.

Pre-training: Online Course (3.5-4 hours)
Before your virtual credential training begins, you must complete an online curriculum, which includes an introduction to Dementia Capable Care Specialist Credential Training. You will review course content and explore CPI modules regarding Dementia Capable Care principles. You will receive an invitation to complete the online course approximately 10 days before your virtual training.
Live Virtual Credential Training (5 hours)
Participants will attend the live virtual training session.
Under the guidance of a Global Professional Instructor (GPI), you will learn a common framework for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, a best-abilities perspective, dementia stages, behavior management, and care techniques to promote the best ability to function.
Upon completion of your training, you will receive the certificate of completion and the Dementia Capable Care Specialist Credential certificate. Your live virtual training will be conducted on the date listed above.
