Overview

Our flagship program since 1980, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training is perfect for primary caregivers, educators, and human service professionals who experience and directly intervene in crisis situations. This training focuses on de-escalation techniques, risk assessment, and both nonrestrictive and restrictive interventions.

To support social distancing guidelines, we have created a two-day NCI Instructor Certification Program that combines online learning, Instructor-led virtual training, and two days of in-person instruction.

In-Person Class Hours:

  • Day 1: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
  • Day 2: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Once you have registered for the two-day in-person event, call our support services team at 888.426.2184 to schedule your virtual training day, which must be completed prior to the in-person event.

Please note: Each day includes a one-hour lunch break. Please check in at least 15 minutes before the program begins.

How It Works

  1. Pre-training: NCI Online Course (3-4 hours) Before your live virtual training begins, you must complete an online course. This sets the foundation for future sessions and quizzes you to make sure you retain what you’ve learned. You will receive an invitation to complete the online portion of training approximately 10 days before your virtual training event.

  2. Live Virtual Training (1 Day, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM) You will attend a live, interactive instruction session led by a CPI Global Professional Instructor. You will be required to complete an online exam at the end of the virtual event. Upon completion of the pre-training, the live virtual training, and the online exam, you will be certified to teach CPI’s Verbal Intervention™ training program.

  3. Classroom Training (2 Days, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM) You will attend a two-day, face-to-face classroom session led by a Global Professional Instructor to train and assess your restrictive intervention skills as well as assess your competency in the overall program through teach-back exercises. Your classroom training will be conducted on the dates listed above.
