Overview

To accommodate current CDC and state safety guidelines, CPI is modifying the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Renewal program for the remainder of 2020 to make it easy for Certified Instructors to maintain their active certification status.

There are three steps to Virtual NCI Renewal Training:

  1. Complete the NCI Online Course prior to the virtual training program date.
  2. Attend the one-day live virtual training program event. Class hours are 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
  3. Complete and pass the Online Certification Exam.

Note: During this time of social distancing, virtual training takes place entirely online to ensure the health and safety of our participants and Global Professional Instructors (GPI). To practice your restrictive interventions and have a GPI assess your skills in person, we encourage you to attend a one-day classroom Refresher program. To register for a Refresher program, find an Instructor Certification program and choose the one-day Refresher option. As always, there is no charge for active Certified Instructors to attend a live follow-up event.

How It Works

  1. Pre-Training: NCI Online Course (3-4 hours) Before your live virtual training begins, you must complete an online course. This sets the foundation for future sessions by reviewing course content, digging deeper behind CPI modules, and discussing important facilitation strategies to maximize your trainings. You will receive an invitation to complete the online portion of training approximately 10 days before your virtual training event.

  2. Live Virtual Training (1 Day; 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM) You will attend a live, interactive instruction session led by a Global Professional Instructor (GPI). In the live event you will apply course content through a variety of activities, explore workplace scenarios with your peers, and work interactively with a GPI to discuss facilitation strategies. Includes several breaks throughout the day.

  3. Online Certification Exam (1 hour) To earn your renewal certification, you must complete and pass the Online Certification Exam. You will receive an email with a link to this exam following the virtual training session.

We are updating our plans frequently, proactively communicating with our team to discuss programs, locations, hotels, and overall safety of locations.
