Back To Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® Training

We work with governing boards to ensure that CPI trainings meet the standards required so you can receive approval for continuing education credit.

At CPI, we maintain a variety of program approvals, accreditations, sponsorships, and providerships through numerous entities for continuing education. Each entity is governed by its own set of rules and policies, and uses its own terminology with respect to credits, hours, and units and how they are calculated.

It’s important to note that CPI does not issue credits of any kind.

We work with the various boards and licensing organizations so that they have the appropriate information and fees in order to recognize our training program as in compliance with their requirements.

What if when I search below to find approvals, accreditations, sponsorships, and providerships, I don’t find what I’m looking for?

Because CPI trains individuals from different countries, states, and professions, it’s not possible for us to apply to all licensing and certifying boards for continuing education approval. If you have any questions, please email ceu@crisisprevention.com.

Can I submit training hours to an organization that’s not on your list?

If there is an organization you’d like to submit CPI training hours to, and it’s not listed here, please contact the organization directly and inquire about their requirements for recognizing trainings. Many organizations will simply accept the Certificate of Attendance that CPI issues to those who attend our training programs conducted by our staff of Global Professional Instructors. In some cases, organizations request copies of the course’s outline and training objectives. If you need copies of a program outline, please email ceu@crisisprevention.com.

Will you apply with an organization that I request?

CPI is continually reviewing the approvals, accreditations, etc., that we maintain. If you would like us to consider applying with a specific entity or organization, please email the name of the entity, along with pertinent contact information, to ceu@crisisprevention.com.

Can a staff member who has participated in CPI training—but is not a Certified Instructor—get CEUs?

Generally, the approvals, accreditations, sponsorships, and providerships that CPI maintains are valid only for programs taught by our Global Professional Instructors. There are several exceptions—or Boards that will recognize trainings taught by Certified Instructors—which are noted within the detailed information about each Board below. If there is not an exception noted, contact the Board directly to inquire about their requirements for recognizing trainings.

Outside the United States: International Recognition/Accreditation

If you have received CPI training from a CPI Global Professional Instructor SINCE July 2015, you can apply to:

British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD)
CPI has been awarded full accreditation by the British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD). This official recognition is the culmination of CPI's efforts to ensure that every facet of the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention℠ training programme is fully compliant with the BILD Code of Practice for Trainers in the Use of Physical Interventions, in addition to the DoH/DfES Statutory Guidance on the Use of Restrictive Physical Intervention, as well as the new Care Standards. We are especially proud of this prestigious endorsement of the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention℠ programme, as CPI was the first training organisation in the UK to undergo the full process of accreditation by BILD. This accreditation is particularly relevant for Certified Instructors responsible for training staff who care for individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and/or emotional behavioural disturbance. For further information, please contact the CPI EU office at enquiries@crisisprevention.com or 0161 929 9777.

Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification (CACCF)
The Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation has approved Nonviolent Crisis Intervention℠ training for up to 26 core hours as of 3/21/2017 through 3/21/2019.

Individuals trained at a CPI program will need to submit a copy of their attendance certificate received from CPI, along with a copy of a CACCF approval letter. Individuals can contact CPI's Continuing Education Coordinator at ceu@crisisprevention.com to request a copy of the approval letter.

Individuals trained by an employment-based Certified Instructor will need to submit a copy of their Blue Card™ (fully completed and signed by the CI), along with a CPI training verification letter. For more information about the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation, please visit their website.

Print Contact Hour Letters for Your Participants!

You as a Certified Instructor can print contact hour verification letters for your participants. The process is automated in an effort to provide you with simplicity and convenience. Once a training is submitted under your Instructor profile, there is an option to print contact hour letters for your participants.

Please enter all training information carefully (training participants, expiration dates, etc.), as all letters are automatically generated and will reflect the submitted information. Errors will require the Certified Instructor to contact CPI’s Quality and Validation Department manually to have letters corrected. This also includes using nicknames and surnames. Once the training has been entered, the process for printing letters is:

Log in to your Instructor profile.

  1. Click the “My Account” tab.
  2. Click the “Document Training” tab.
  3. Locate the desired training on the “Completed Training” list and click “View.”
  4. Click the “Print CEU Letters” button.

At this point you can print the letters, or save them on your desktop for email.

Important Notes About CEUs

It is the responsibility of each participant to ensure that training meets the continuing education requirements of their respective board. The contact hour letters are not a guarantee for CEUs. Many licensing boards will approve training accepted by one of the many boards that have already approved the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® training program content. If you have questions concerning training requirements, please contact a member of the specific board to find out if the training will meet their requirements for continuing education. Falsification of continuing education documentation is taken very seriously by licensing boards, and can result in a variety of penalties to include fines, loss of licensure, and criminal charges.

Success with CPISee how orgs like yours achieve their goals.
