Nonviolent Crisis Intervention℠ training is a behaviour management system that teaches simple skills for assessing, managing, and responding to risk behaviour at work. The focus is on verbal de-escalation, prevention, and early intervention. Safe physical intervention options are also taught, to be used only as a last resort.

This time-tested program gives you an effective framework for decision making and problem solving. And it equips you with the skills and confidence to champion a culture of Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security℠.

The CPI Crisis Development Model

Learn the four levels of crisis development, and corresponding staff responses for each behaviour level.

Nonverbal Communication

Explore how your nonverbal communication can positively or negatively affect an individual’s behaviour.

Examine how the way you say what you say can influence how someone perceives your message.

Verbal Communication

Delve into verbal intervention and Empathic Listening approaches to de-escalate a situation and decelerate a person’s behaviour.

Precipitating Factors, Rational Detachment, Integrated Experience

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention℠ training teaches strategies for responding to behaviours with empathy and sensitivity to a person’s trauma history. Once you're trained in the program, you then teach it to your colleagues—and we can help you incorporate trauma-informed best practices into your in-house trainings, policies, and procedures. With special resources, you’ll have the essential ingredients for helping people do more than react and survive. You’ll have proven techniques for helping them cope and thrive.
