Overview

Our flagship program since 1980, Safety Intervention Foundation training is perfect for healthcare, human service, or education professionals who experience and directly intervene in crisis situations. This training focuses on de-escalation techniques, risk assessment, and both nonrestrictive and restrictive interventions.

To accommodate new guidelines and best practice, Safety Intervention Foundation is now available as a blended training programme, making it convenient for you to become certified to teach this programme.

There are three steps to the blended Safety Intervention Foundation programme

  1. Complete the Online Curriculum prior to the in-person training programme date.
  2. Attend the three-day in-person training programme event. Class hours are 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  3. Complete and pass the Online Certification Exam.

How It Works

  1. Pre-Training: Safety Intervention Foundation Online Course (3-4 hours)

    Before your in-person training begins, you must complete an online course. This course, which is a prerequisite to attending your in-person training event, sets the foundation for future sessions and quizzes you to help retain what you’ve learned. You will receive an invitation to complete the online portion of training approximately 10 days before your in-person training event.

  2. In-Person Training (3 Days, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

    You will attend a three-day, in-person session led by a Global Professional Instructor to train and assess your restrictive intervention skills as well as assess your competency in the overall program through teach-back exercises. Your in-person training will be conducted on the dates listed above.

  3. Complete and Pass the Online Certification Exam

    At the end of your three-day, in-person session you will receive an online certification exam to test knowledge and application.
