Does your service provide essential care and treatment for children and adults with developmental disabilities or impaired mental health, or adults with dementia or acquired brain injury?

CH-3℠ introduces a decision-making framework that considers levels of risk, and presents three holding options. These safe interventions can be applied to personal care, special care dentistry, emergency and surgical settings in which an individual may lack capacity due to a prevailing medical condition.

On completion of the programme, you will be able to:

  • Describe the reasoning for decisions made that can be verified against legal and professional benchmarks for risk education.
  • Explain the risks associated with the use of restrictive holds or physical restraints.
  • Carry out verbal and non-verbal de-escalation strategies.
  • Demonstrate the use of holding skills consistent with a set of physiological principles that may be used in varying environments to restrict movement and minimise risk.
  • Disengage from various holds using a consistent set of physiological principles.

Delivery Options

Instructor Certification

First the training is taught to you. Then you learn how to teach it.

With our five-day train-the-trainer Instructor Certification Programme, you'll become certified to teach what you've learned to colleagues within your organisation. The benefits, standards, policies and procedures governing certification are also examined, as well as the legal framework in which you operate.

Direct Delivery

We can bring the training directly to your staff at your premises.

CH-3℠ is also available as a two-day direct delivery option that includes four hours of practical application in a range of simulated environments that utilises any specialised equipment you may use, such as hospital beds, dental chairs or wheelchairs.
