Crisis Prevention Institute Inc. is the worldwide leader in evidence-based de-escalation and crisis prevention training and dementia care services. Since 1980, we’ve helped train more than 16 million people within service-oriented industries including education, healthcare, behavioral health, long term care, human services, security, corrections, corporate, and retail.

Philosophy of Training

When we started providing this service, we were focused on teaching staff how to protect themselves, physically. It quickly occurred to me that self-defense techniques were only a part of the equation. The professionals we were training had a desire to provide a better experience for those in their care. Once that occurred to me, it became clear that we were not there to teach staff physical methods. We needed to focus on changing behaviors with respect and compassion.
