Seni's Law/RRN Training Standards Statutory Guidance

The Department of Health & Social Care has published statutory guidance for NHS organisations in England and police forces in England and Wales that supports the implementation of requirements set out in the Mental Health Units (Use of Force) Act 2018. There is also an easy to read version of the Mental Health Units (Use of Force) Act 2018.

Otherwise known as Seni's Law, the guidance underlines the need for all training that includes restrictive physical interventions to comply with the Restraint Reduction Network Training Standards.

To evidence compliance with the RRN Training Standards, training providers must be certified by Bild ACT, which is currently the only provider of certification against the standards in the UK. 

CPI became a Certified Training Provider in February 2020.

Delivering CPI training through your onsite trainers means you don’t have to go through the lengthy and expensive certification process, instead your organisation can become an affiliate of Bild ACT via CPI. RRN Training Standards

The Bild ACT Restraint Reduction Network Training Standards ensure that training is delivered by competent and experienced training professionals who can evidence knowledge and skills that go far beyond the application of physical restraint or other restrictive interventions.

 The Standards represent a huge leap forward in protecting the safety and human rights for all populations including, but not limited to, people with mental health conditions, dementia, learning disabilities and autism.
