WI Legislation AB 785 Specifies Creation of DHS Certification for Dementia Specialists
On February 3, 2016, the state of Wisconsin proposed bill AB 785, written to create a dementia specialist certification program.
In order to receive certification, an individual must:
a. Successfully complete an instructional program.
b. Successfully complete a competency evaluation program.
The bill requires the Department of Health and Human Services to create curriculum and set curriculum content:
a. The curriculum must be 40 hours of instruction, including both classroom and clinical
instruction.
b. The department shall approve instructional programs for dementia specialists that
apply for approval.
